HOW TO WIN? 

THE GOAL: creative a wave of events to get communities talking about the movement to #RestoreParadise & #KeepPlacesWild.   

 (a) Create a one-off grassroots event which helps to amplify the message to #RestoreParadise & #KeepPlacesWild. 

(b) Take photographs of your event & write a paragraph about your event and how it helps to amplify the messages embedded in The Map to Paradise.  

(c) Submit your info about your event + photos (via dropbox) to the email provided in the ENTRY FORM.

(d) Share your journey with The Map to Paradise community by tagging in @themaptoparadise and #RestoreParadise & #KeepPlacesWild on social media.  

(e) Expert ocean campaigners will judge the entries. They will select the winner!  

*Presently, this competition is only open to people residing in Australia.


ENTRY EXAMPLES TO HELP INSPIRE YOU 

No matter how big or small, your grassroots event will be an important contribution towards positive cultural change.

Some event ideas include: 

  1. Painting a street mural which celebrates marine sanctuaries. 

  2. Inviting a marine scientist to talk about protecting the sea to speak at your local beach clean, school or community hall. 

  3. Activate an indoor or outdoor space with musicians or film, using the event to talk about protecting nature in your backyard. 

  4. Use a community space to create a public debate on protecting nature, inviting your local politicians to talk about their policy platforms. 

  5. The sky is the limit! Your event could be as simple, creative or intellectual as you like.

ABOUT THE DIVEPLANIT PRIZE / RULES

The prize is a voucher worth $500, donated by Diveplanit, and must be spent on a dive/stay holiday worth at least $2,500, land only (no flights). Expires end of April 2020.

Eligibility

Entry is open to individuals anywhere in Australia. You do not need to have seen the film to enter. 

Employees, immediate family members of employees, employees of any company associated with the prize are ineligible to enter. 

                      Entrants aspire, in good faith, to enter works which they believe best interpret and positively advance The Map to Paradise’s key educational message to #RestoreParadise & #KeepPlacesWild. 

Entry

The competition commences on 29th March 2019 and entries close on 30th September 2019 (competition period).

To enter, Eligible Entrants must  (a) Create a one-off grassroots event which helps to amplify the message to #RestoreParadise & #KeepPlacesWild. (b) Take photographs of your event & write a paragraph about your event and how it helps to amplify the messages embedded in The Map to Paradise.  (c) Submit your info about your event + photos (via dropbox) to the email provided in the form - www.themaptoparadise.com/event-contest-form-australia (d) Share your journey with The Map to Paradise community by tagging in @themaptoparadise and #RestoreParadise & #KeepPlacesWild on social media.  (e) Expert ocean campaigners will judge the entries. They will select the winner! 

You must also explain in your entry form why you want to participate in this competition. 

Judging process 

          Our panel of expert judges will select the winner based on skill, passion and merit. They will evaluate the intention of the event host and the event’s contribution towards amplifying The Map to Paradise’s educational campaign message to #RestoreParadise & #KeepPlacesWild. 

When we announce the winner, we will include a statement from the judges as to why they selected the winner. 

Notification Date 

The winner will be announced by the end of November 2019.

Prize conditions

There are no limitations to what an event might look like, as long you do not break the law, including harming, harassing or injuring any person, living creature, or ecosystem in the process. 

Entrants agree to take on full responsibility for the organisation and delivery of their event, including responsibility for public liability and indemnity. 

Winners will be notified by phone/email. The winners will have their details published in www.themaptoparadise.com and the winner will grant The Map to Paradise permission to repost their full name, photographs and written materials on the website and on social media without a fee attached. 

         If the winner does not respond to claim their prize within two weeks, the judges reserve the right to re-allocate the prize to a runner up. 

         Copyright of the photographs and written materials remain with the person who took the photographs or wrote the materials. 

         The prize cannot be swapped for a cash alternative. 

         The organisers of the prize (The Map to Paradise film crew) reserve the right to add additional prize categories and modify the conditions or judging process, if necessary.
